Because the leaves go on the plate, favour food-safe organic tools: insecticidal soap and neem oil for aphids, whitefly, thrips and mites; Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) for caterpillars; iron-phosphate slug bait, copper tape and sticky traps for monitoring; and a copper fungicide only as limited backup against bacterial spot and downy mildew.
