- Prevention & Control: The cure is to let the surface of the mix dry between waterings, which breaks their cycle. Set yellow sticky traps to catch the adults and drench with Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis (mosquito bits) or top-dress with a layer of grit to stop egg-laying.
- Slugs & Snails (Deroceras and others):
- Symptoms: Irregular holes chewed in the tender foliage of plants grown outdoors or in damp, shaded ground-cover plantings, with tell-tale silvery slime trails on leaves and soil.
