Feijoa needs very little spraying: focus on fruit-fly traps and prompt removal of fallen fruit, plus netting against birds, as the main measures. Keep horticultural oil and insecticidal soap on hand for occasional scale, mealybug, aphid and thrips outbreaks, and reserve copper fungicide for wet-climate fruit rot. Free-draining soil and open pruning prevent nearly all disease.
