For Furcraea the essentials are horticultural or neem oil and insecticidal soap for scale, mealybug and mites; iron-phosphate bait for snails and slugs; and copper or phosphite fungicide plus sulfur powder for crown and root rot. A systemic soil drench is the last-resort tool against agave snout weevil on prized plants. Sharp drainage and dry crowns prevent more problems than any product. Apply oils in the evening to protect pollinators and follow the label.
