Keep the response gentle and organic-first: a strong water jet and insecticidal soap or neem for aphids, thrips and mites; blue/yellow sticky traps for monitoring; hand-picking and iron-phosphate pellets for beetles and slugs; and potassium bicarbonate or sulfur for powdery mildew, alongside good spacing. There is no spray for aster yellows – removal is the only remedy.
