- Treatment & Management: There is no cure once advanced. Cut well back into firm, healthy tissue with a sterilised blade, discard rotten material, and keep the plant dry and warm. Prevent by avoiding cold, wet, crowded conditions and overhead watering.
- Southern blight (Sclerotium rolfsii):
- Symptoms: White cottony fungal threads and small tan, mustard-seed-like sclerotia at the soil line; leaf bases rot and the plant wilts. Favoured by warm, moist, organic-rich media.
- Treatment & Management: Remove infected plants and the surrounding media promptly. Improve drainage and lower moisture at the crown. Drench with an appropriate fungicide only as a last resort; prevention through sanitation and dry surfaces is far more reliable.

- Sunburn:
