For nasturtium, cultural tolerance goes a long way: use it as an aphid trap crop, then reach for insecticidal soap or neem for heavy aphid or mealybug loads, Bt for cabbage-white and armyworm caterpillars, floating row cover for flea beetles, and iron-phosphate bait for slugs. Keep sulphur or potassium bicarbonate only for late-season mildew, and control aphids to limit mosaic virus.
