- Symptoms: Yellow flecks on the upper leaf with powdery orange-to-brown pustules beneath, common on Malvaceae in humid, crowded conditions; heavy rust yellows and drops leaves.

- Correction Strategy: Keep watering and temperature steady, shelter from cold draughts, and acclimatise plants gradually when moving them; recovery follows once conditions stabilise.
- Frost tenderness:
- Cause & Symptoms: Abutilon are frost-tender; freezing blackens soft growth and can kill the plant outright, and cold, wet winters cause dieback.
